AI is a branch within computer science that deals directly with machines. AI was defined during the second half 20th century as work performed by machines that didn’t require human intelligence to complete a task. Minsky and McCarthy were the fathers of artificial Intelligence. This is the current definition of artificial intelligence. Robots controlled by computers can solve problems that require the intellect of humans. They can reason, generalize, and ascertain data.

Types of Artificial Intelligence

AI can be divided into two groups: general AI or narrow AI. AI that is narrower than general is often seen as weak. It is task-oriented. General AI is considered strong. It is capable of performing a wide variety of tasks, which is not the case with Narrow AI.

Narrow AI

This can be seen in the computers that we use. This type of IIT is generally focused on a single task, which it can accomplish very well. There are examples such as virtual assistants that recognize speech or language and cars that can drive themselves. This type of artificial intelligence can only perform a specific task and cannot do it anymore. A common type of narrow artificial intelligence includes answering customers’ questions and concerns.

This can also include cooperating with artificial intelligence to assist with tasks like hotel bookings, helping radiologists find tumours via X-rays that have the potential for turning dangerous, detecting problems with elevators, and preparing a 3-D model of the world. It cannot do the tasks that have been taught to it, which is a major drawback.

General AI

You can find this type of AI in more sophisticated systems. It can perform several tasks normally performed by a human. General AI is heavily influencing the themes of western films. According to data scientists, general artificial intelligence (GAI) will increase in importance by 2040-2050. By 2075, it would be the dominant technology of the universe. It would also present a threat to the human race. The cognitive performance of general AI in virtual domains is expected to be superior to that of human cognition.

However, scientists differ on this point of view. Many scientists believe this.AI in general is not yet the future of humanity. Demise Hassabis and Geoffrey Hinton were the first to use general artificial intelligence. Yann LeCun is also a proponent of this view. They believe there is no basis to fear that general AI will soon threaten the human species.

Artificial Intelligence is a hot buzzword right now and Machine Learning (ML), often appears to be interchangeable.

While they may not be the same thing, in reality, their perceptions can sometimes confuse. I decided to write this piece to clarify the differences.

Both terms appear frequently when talking about Big Data, Analytics, and the larger waves of technological innovation that are currently sweeping the globe.

The best solution is, in short:

Artificial Intelligence can be described as machines that are capable of performing tasks in a way we would consider “smart”. Machine Learning is an application of AI that is currently in use. It’s based on the idea we shouldn’t be able to just give machines data and allow them to learn for themselves.
